2 July Lopuchowo

On 5 August 1941 the Tykocin Jews were rounded up and taken to this  nearby forest, Lopuchowo,
where most were executed (some were deported to the Bialystok Ghetto).

We met other groups coming into this place, remembering the Dead. Kaddish was said by all groups, including our own led by Leah and Rachel. The young Israelis were singing at times which added a poignancy to the experience.

There were several mass graves. Permanent as well as temporary memorials remember the Jewish people of Tykocin.
