Przemysl II

We left the forest and had a good walk around the city.

Seeing lovely buildings

And interesting streets

The left of this building has been restored. The right side is for sale--maybe Ania or Sylvie would be interested in buying and renovating it!

We headed up a lovely path to this small castle built by Kasimierz Wielke (He also built Wawel and founded the Jagiellonian University). We climbed to the top

And enjoyed lovely views of the city

We enjoyed exhibits going up and down--a unique tower.

We loved these tiles which illustrated specific musical compositions, maybe for the visually impaired.

We left this castle

And walked down to the town

Where we enjoyed local cooking.

And then home.

And up the next morning

To an interesting Pipe and Bell museum in an old bell tower.

With nice views along the way.

We went to another museum,

A more modern one

This museum told the fascinating history of Prysmysl.

Its location has been important. We learned more about the importance of The Ring Fortress built by the Austrian empire during the 19th century.

 Remains of the Ring Fortress

This funky wooden dog reminded us of Leon.

We saw an excellent exhibit about the Jewish life in Przemysl.

It had an interesting room of Jewish history.

I especially liked the work of Erno Erb.

I also found a lovely annunciation painting,

And one of St George, both reminders of Helen as she liked paintings of those subjects.

What a treat it was to visit Przemysl!
