We had fun together discussing politics and other things. Our electoral system is hard to explain, especially after the disastrous 2016 election.
We admired the lovely wild flowers--our friends knew the names. We looked in vain for the edelweiss, but we were too early.

The Zillertel is always near bringing water down the alps.
The Swiss Brown Cows are lovely with big bells around their neck. We were told the farmers recognize the different tones of the bells to know their own cows. The tones make lovely sounds

Remembering Heidi, I was happy finally to see some goats on the other side of the river.

We saw villages,

And waterfalls,

Well-marked paths,

On top at this alm, we were rewarded with delicious buttermilk in big brown mugs!

Where we could walk to all these places.
This place must be full of skiers in the winter--lots of alms and huttes to stay in and to eat.

We walked up a bit further and had a Zillertal and apple cake here, at the Penkenjochhaus.

Delicious elevenses snack overlooking magnificent scenery!

And a walk back down to the ski lift.

And at the bottom, we walked along the Zillertal that borders Mayrhoven ending with a lovely late lunch in a local restaurant.

Finishing with a sachertorte!

One day we rode a bus up a very steep road to a famous lake or dam.

We couldn't do any walking but we had coffee and conversation in this place.
On the way home, we saw the sun coming out.
An excellent holiday--one of the best ever!
