3 October—We travelled by train from Fez to Meknes where we were met by a taxi which took us to Riad Palais Didi
We checked in and walked through a hallway with photos of famous Arab Sheiks and into a charming courtyard decorated with stunning tile work. The decoration around the doorway looked like cake icing.
Our lovely room was right off the center garden. In fact we could walk right out our door and find our dinner table where we enjoyed a delicious dinner and breakfast.
This was my bed!
And, this was Linda's!
The room had interesting furniture, architecture, and windows.
Our bathroom was huge!
The rooftop had a view as well as swimming pool and beautiful bougainvillaea.
We walked into the city through impressive gates,
Small vennels,
and house- lined cobbled streets,
When we got lost, we were helped by a nice young man.
We noticed pictures on the walls which may have been signs for businesses. For example, this same horse was on the back of the beautiful blue and white china used in our Riad. So maybe this was a china shop..
A flower in a window?
Pawnbroker?
In a covered market, we found a friendly marketeer who explained his many spices.
In another market, we happened onto a big rug auction
And, later a rug store where tourists can find beautiful, pricey rugs.
As well as pottery and other decorative items.
The Taxis here are light blue.
Back in Marrakech, we spent a morning walking around the Ives St Laurent Garden. He was actually from Algiers but had a home in Marrakech. It was a very hot day but the garden felt cool and lovely in spite of the crowd of people.
The garden had many different kinds of plants.
A small museum showed his Valentines.
I took this photo on our cab ride back to Maison Mnabha on our last day in Morroco.
We flew back to Luton, then onto tube. Linda got off at her London stop and I went on to Gatwick.
I had a lovely dinner and night at the Copthorne, close to Gatwick. Kevin and I have stayed here before. I was up early, said good bye to the swans, and traveled to Gatwick by bus, and then onto my flight home.
