From Cambridge to Kings Cross, we traveled to Paddington, a beautiful nineteenth century train station where we boarded for Wales.
The train ride was fun, especially in Wales where the two-car train zigzagged, going backward then forward, eventually taking us to Fishguard Harbour, where Jonathan collected us and took us through the charming Welsh village and on to Sophie's family cottage.
There JOJO met us and gave us the grand tour!

Art is everywhere! A greeter sits on the fence. A sign notes the status of an outdoor toilet.

Memories of a Solar Eclipse party decorate another outbuilding!
We eventually ended up in the front garden
Where we enjoyed wine and a lovely view of the Irish sea.
The garden is lovely with roses and interesting plants. All the spring rain brought much green growth and Sophie and Jonathan worked on taming it.
BUNNY EARS!
JoJo is a good camera man!
Inside is cozy and charming with family art everywhere. The fireplace is decorated with local shells.
Sophie prepared a delicious supper of Welsh lamb--the best I've had!
I'm trying to remember this lovely cat's name. She took us for a walk
We slept comfortably upstairs in dormer rooms recently modernized with views looking out toward the sea.
The next morning, we had a day tour of Pembrokeshire through charming villages.
In Nevern, we visited this sixth century Norman Church of St Brynach.
With an ancient cross,
An even older braided cross and some Ogham writing
St. Brynach Queen's Jublilee Rembrances!

The cemetery is surrounded by huge yews.
JoJo shows us the red sap that bleeds from these ancient yews.
We drove down lovely old roads, passing cows, to an old burial chamber.
We then drove to Porthgain on the Pembrokeshire Coast and enjoyed a delicious fish and chips lunch in the 18th century Sloop Inn!
And afterwards we walked around the old industrial harbor.
The Sloop where ships came in. Bricks were dumped into them through the doors in the brick wall.
We walked up the cliff and enjoyed magnificent views.

Lovely "flower in a crannied wall"
And closeup of doors where bricks were lowered into ships

The Red Dragon!
We traveled to St David's Cathedral with Monastery Ruins in the background
Inside was lovely--the floor was a soft blue and white. We enjoyed a music rehearsal.
And then a good pub supper with old friends and new in the Golden Lion in Newport.
And, the next day one last stop to look over Fishguard Bay, I think, and carrying some nice Welch pasties for the train back to Cambridge via London.
